London!

Hello and welcome, this is my first of many posts. On the 29th of August I left Berlin and we went to London until 1st of September for a british introduction week. Together with other students (mostly from Brazil, Italy and Germany) we stayed in the student accomodations at Rohehampton University.

During these 4 days we did mostly team building exercises as well as a lot of workshops to prepare us for challenges in England, for example: Culture Shock, Home-Sickness and Fear of missing out. The most exiting part about the Introduction week in London was our day trip to the inner city. We could choose which places to visit on our own within a 5 hour time frame, plus a paid-for trip on the world-famous London Eye:

London Eye Funfacts

They built it in 1999 by assembling the wheel on the Thames and pulling it upright with cranes.

It is 135 meters tall and the second biggest wheel in Europa.

After the London Eye we had our own free time. I decided to head to Big Ben and Buckingham Palace with my friends.

We saw a very cool breakdancer that set up a small dancing area and played loud hiphop music from his speakers. The highlight was that suddenly, an about 11 year old kid challenged the professional to a dance battle!

We stood there and watched as they breakdanced (at this point it has started to rain so it was pretty dramatic), but I think the professional won this one. Later we saw another two street performers, a group of reggae-men doing limbo and self-contorting stunts and (one of my highlights) a very talented musician playing on a 16 stringed guitar! We also witnessed a car hitting a truck and the police was called, so we got the whole London experience 🙂

So this was my first week in England, at the intro-week in London. In my next post I will cover the first impressions on my new home, a small town called Middlewich in Cheshire.. I will also make a Cheshire College Campus Review (the college where I am going to study).
