Manchester and Liverpool

In this entry I will write some about my recent trips to both Manchester and Liverpool. Last weekend was very busy because we went to both cities one after another, the Liverpool trip was organised by the international team while we did the Manchester trip on our own together with the new international students that arrived after Christmas.

Manchester

A friend of mine and myself planned the trip even before the semester break but we never got around to doing it. The purpose was to go eat Sushi because there is no restaurant close to Crewe and my friend hadn’t eaten it for a year even though it was his favourite food. We also wanted to checkout China Town in Manchester, which looked pretty cool. I got the restaurant recommendation through a friend from Manchester that I met when I went to see Greta Van Fleet in November. The Sushi was good and it came on one of those conveyor belts so it was a cool experience.

We also went to a big music store there and I checked out some more guitars I can’t afford. I was there at the right time and lucky enough to snap a picture with Elton John. I wanted to take him home but they said they need him for marketing purposes. I can see why since I am technically doing a free Schimmel advert right now, but ignore that.

Liverpool

I actually went to Liverpool on two different occasions, last weekend with the international team and this weekend to meet a friend of mine that would leave to go back to Germany in a few days. Last weekend’s trip was to the Liverpool World museum, which is a nature and technology museum that costs no entry. Before the museum, we had a nice pizza and after, we went to Kaspa’s, which is a desert restaurant. The whole place smelled like sugar and I felt like I would gain weight by breathing the air in there, but the food was good! The second trip this week was just to explore more of the city because I have only been around the shopping areas really. I wanted to check out the docks and my friend also recommended visiting the skyline. It was beautiful because we got there right after sunset:

Host family in Winsford

From January until mid-February, I am staying at a new host family in Winsford, which is a small town to the north of Crewe. The schoolbus drives about the same time as from Middlewhich, but because Winsford is a little bigger they have a trainstation which is very useful for my trips to Liverpool. It is still a 30 minute walk home but better than having to take another bus from Crewe! My host mom has a lot of pets, here are they all:

Even though the picture looks different, Tilly (the cat) doesn’t like to be pet that much. I took this image during a very lucky moment. The dog Poppy is very old, she is 16 (112 in dog years!!) so she is rather slow. The two guinnea pigs are both only a few months old but also very cute. But the appearance is deceiving, Fluffy bit my hostmom this morning..

I’m going to move host families again in February so I will be closer to college and my friends. It will also be good because my mates and I are working on our band project right now and even have a gig coming up in March! I will write more on that in a coming vlog. Until next time!
